GNU/Linux classes

“Excellent course, well-paced, good to have labs and instruction. Insttuctor knowledgable and teaches well.”—Mike LeTendre on a class evaluation form, May 3, 2005.

“A great course that has taught me several things. Thank you.”—Anonymous student on a class evaluation form, June 16, 2003.

The surprises Ken installed on the servers kept the class interesting and applied what was taught”— Anonymous student discussing the “broken machine” labs from a system administration class.

Kenneth is the lead courseware developer for Linux classes with SkillBridge. Kenneth and his associates have been using Unix since 1980, *BSD systems (the original Berkeley Unix, followed by FreeBSD and OpenBSD) since 1985, and GNU/Linux systems since 1990. Kenneth started as a system administrator of these systems in 1985. This extensive experience allows Kenneth to ensure that the students learn why something is useful, not just how to use it. Because Kenneth and his associates work in industry on real problems, the classes are not just theoretical, but carry real-world experience. The course materials regularly receive rave reviews for their thoroughness; they are much more than just a printout of a set of Powerpoint slides.

Beyond Red Hat (CentOS), we also have experience with SuSE, and Debian. We also regularly work with OpenBSD and FreeBSD.
