A introduction to the Internet

This course is targeted at Internet beginners. It is expected that you have a working knowledge of your own computer, but prior knowledge of the Internet is not assumed.

The class is a 4-hour hands-on seminar covering all aspects of using the Internet. It focuses on using Windows-based tools to access the net via PPP connections. (Eudora for email, Netscape for the World Wide Web, etc.)

The course covers:

Students of this class learn not only how to use a tool to access a feature of the Internet, but also the ``Big Picture'' of how that part of the Internet works. With this knowledge, they are better able to deal with problems that may occur as they make use of the Internet.
